My approach.

I practice creative music psychotherapy. This approach includes verbal processing typical in talk therapy as well as creative processes of music making that enable you to work around thought loops and mental blocks to access insights. Together, we will find the right balance of verbal and creative expression, so that you can build awareness and take intentional steps towards personal growth.

My approach is based on over 10 years of clinical and research experience in music therapy. With advanced training in music psychotherapy, I utilize methods in clinical improvisation that are accessible to everyone. No previous experience in music is required. My research includes published studies that examine how the mind and body respond to music. With a neuroscience-informed lens, my work is grounded in evidence-based practices that are adaptable to the individual needs of each person.

Sometimes, it helps to talk about experiences and the feelings they bring up. And, sometimes, it can be difficult to name how something feels or even what you want to do next. Bringing these moments into music can provide new insights that weren’t accessible with words alone. I will work with you to find paths to creative expression that help you realize your next steps.
